Effect of phosphorus and age of food after anthesis on the viability and vigor of mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilzeck) seeds
1987
Petcharaburanin, C.
Addition of phosphorus increased seed dry matter weight in the order of 90 = 60 30 0 regardless of harvest period. Though seed yield was not a major parameter for this study, it was however, observed that there was also an increase in seed yield as a result of increased phosphorus application. Phosphorus fertilizer comparatively increased the P content in seed. Maximum dry seed weight was observed at 18 DAA and optimum P in seed at 14 DAA. Seed harvested at 10 DAA had low percentage germination but this was offset by applying 60 and 90 kg P2O5. Percentage of germination, dry shoot and root weight were maximum from seeds harvested at 18 DAA. Phosphorus content in seed was positively related to germination percentage, dry shoot and dry root weight.
