Formation of the content of dry matter, sugar and soluble ash in the harvest period of seedlings and after their storage and of changes in the content of elements during storage under the influence of sowing date and nitrogen fertilization of elite and sowing density is presented. An earlier sowing date led to an increase of dry matter during storage. Seedlings from earlier sowing date contained, except for dry years, significantly more sugar. No significant effect of the nitrogen fertilization on the content of the elements under study was found. The ash content did not depend on the sowing date and the nitrogen rate. The row sowing and the single-seed sowing at every 4 cm resulted in a significant increase of the dry matter content in the harvest period as compared to the single-seed sowing at every 6 and 9 cm. After storage the smallest seedlings from the row sowing showed the lowest content of dry matter, as its losses during storage the highest at this sowing density decreased along with increase of the distance between seeds and the root mass growth
