The effect of Philippine peanut stripe virus (PStV) isolate on the growth, yield and components of a susceptible peanut variety when inoculated at different growth stages were studied. It was observed that the effects of PStV on yield and yield components of peanut was greatly influenced by the growth stage when infection took place. Higher reduction on the number of pods, weight of seeds, and yield was noted in peanut plants inoculated at seedling stage. PStV infection during flowering did not drastically affect the yield of peanut. Likewise, no significant effect on the height of infected plants was recorded.
