The demand for concentrated feed for the animal production improvement in Poland exceeds by 30 per cent the current production vegetable protein. The quality breeding in Poland contributed in the last decade to an improvement of the protein balance owing to: breeding of qualitatively better cultivars of double-improved rape, breeding of many winter and spring Triticale cultivars with much higher content of digestible protein in relation to rye, breeding of many new cultivars of leguminous crops with better agrobiological traits. The future program of the quality breeding should comprise: further improvement of Triticale cultivars with higher protein content, selection of double-improved rape towards reduction of the fibre content, quality breeding of oats with high protein and fat content in view of their favourable qualitative composition
