It has been found that the persistance of the tested herbicides in soil depended to a great extent on the molecular structure and dose of the herbicide applied; the longest detoxication rate showed linuron, the shortest -metoxuron. The tested herbicides showed a harmful effect on soil microorganisms only in the first period after application and generally did not affect the investigated chemical properties of soil
