Biological and chemical changes in several soils as influenced by elemental sulphur application

Different doses of elemental sulphur were added to 8 soils, and after 14 to 360 days of incubation chemical and biological analyses were carried out. Sulphur additions caused: acidification of all soils with the exception of the cretaceous and the gypsum rendzinas; increase in the content of available P; decrease in the populations of bacteria and actinomycetes
