Possibilities of reducing weight losses during poultry transport

The negative effect of transport and stress connected with it result in significant body weight losses in broilers. Many factors, as transport duration, distance and conditions, influence the magnitude of these losses. In presented experiments the broiler weight losses were estimated at 3-4 percent. At the same time the significant meat quality deterioration as meat colour and water content changes reduced tenderness and technological usefulness, were also observed. Ways of preventing excessive losses were discussed
