Rate of proliferation and efficiency of rhizogenesis of sour cherry cultures recultured in vitro for several years

When cultures were 4, 3, 2, 1, and one half years old their ability for proliferation and rhizogenesis were determined. Only the youngest cultures of Schattenmorelle cv. showed significantly lower rates of proliferation and of rhizogenesis than the older ones. Growth capacity of North Star cv. cultures was in a lesser degree dependent on their age. The cultures of both cultivars being in different age did not show any morphological variations in type
