Root collar modulates hormone transport affected by pruning of shoots and roots of the apple tree

Shoot pruning increased cytokinin and auxin levels in the root collar and swelling leaf buds, and caused a partial decrease in root cytokinins. Shoot and root prunings applied together caused a deep depletion of cytokinins and auxin from roots but the collar hormones were only partly affected. A high level of gibberellins in the root collar in June was totally independent of the carried out prunings
