This chapter describes how production and profits would increase if farmers have fertilizers available on barley in Syria. Results of studies to improve the methods of ICARDA for on-farm trials, whole-farm analyses to anticipate the impacts of new technologies and to identify directions of research which are likely to be most fruitful, application of herbicides resulting in large and consistant increases in yield and revenue, and benefits that are derived from supplemental irrigation are reported
