Hartrot or 'sudden wither' disease in hybrids of Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis
1983
Alexander, V.T. (Agricultural Experiment Station, Paramaribo (Suriname). Div. of Coconut and Oilpalm) | Kastelein, P.
The hybrids of Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis were considered to be resistant to hartrot or 'sudden wither' found in association with trypanosomatid flagellate protozoan of the genus Phytomonas in the phloem of the diseased palms. Present observations in Suriname proved that these hybrids are also susceptible to this disease.
