Relationship of seed quality and field performance in commercial corn seeds
1986
Chutima Koshawatana
The commercial field corn which marketing in local corn belt was Suwan 1 and hybrid seed. Field corn seed quality was related to field emergence, early growth and development, as determined by plant height, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation and silking date. The advantage of high seed quality in field performance was more evident in the experiment trial, the irrigated plot than in the farmer field under rainfed condition. However, no correlation was found between seed quality and grain yield, this is due to the stand adjustment at 14 days after field emergence.
