Efficacy of fluroxypyr and triclopyr in combination with glyphosate on general weeds control in oil palm

The efficacies of fluroxypyr (4-amino-3,5-dichloro-6-fluoro-2-pyridyloxyacetic acid) and triclopyr (3,5,6-toichloro-2-pyridyloxyacetic acid) mixing with glyphosate [N-(phoshonomethly) glycine] on general weeds control were evaluated in 5 and 8 years old oil palm at Khuangalong, Satun. At 2 and 3 weeks after spraying, fluroxypyr and triclopyr at rate 50, 100, 150 and 200 g(a.e.)/ha in the combination with glyphosate at the rate of 500 g(a.e.)/ha produced excellent control of broadleaf weeds such as Ageratum conyzoides, Eupatorium odoratum, Vernonia odoratum, leguminous creeping cover (Centrosema sp., Pueraria Sp. and Calopogonium sp.), Mikania cordata, Phyllanthus niruri and grass weeds such as Axonopus compressus and Paspalum conjugatum. Both fluroxypyr and triclopyr at lower rate 150 g (a.e.)/ha provided partial control against broadleaf weeds at 2 to 3 weeks after spraying but complete control was observed at 4 weeks after application. Triclopyr, however, showed control efficacy on broadleaf weeds slower than fluroxypyr when applied at rate 50 g(a.e.)/ ha. Grass weeds were kept controlled completely by glyphosate.
