Ellis, D.W. | Whervin, L.W. van (Ministry of Agriculture, Kingston (Jamaica). Div. of Plant Protection)
In 1975, the Pesticide Act was passed to make provisions for regulating the importation, manufacture, sale and use of pesticides for the licensing of pest control operators and for other related matters. Three schedules occur under the Act; the first gives the terms and references of the 'Pesticides Control Authority' the second lists the prohibited pesticides and the third lists restricted pesticides. Non-implementation of the Act has resulted in misuse of pesticides. Recommendations for the registration of pesticides and education in the safe use of pesticides are described.
