The quantity and distribution of lipid droplets in the liver parenchyma of newborn, three and nine weeks old, and six months old pigs were determined stereometrically. The highest volume density of lipid droplets was found in the newborn animals, with hepatocytes 1.71% and with fat storing cells 0.34%. A difference regarding quantity of lipid droplets between the left and the right liver lobe was stated; more lipid material was in the left lobe.
