The effect of cultivar and soil properties on yield and quality of sugar beet
1988
Stojkovic, Z. | Spasic, P. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia))
Variety microexperiments with hybrid sugar beet varieties grown in several localities in Vojvodina (yugoslavia) served as a material for this investigation. The highest root yield, average and individual, was obtained in the experiment in Kikinda. It ranged from 64.36 t/ha to 75.54 t/ha. In localities, Novi Sad and Pancevo, approximately the same root yields were obtained for the whole experiment. Experimental plots had a significant effect upon all the elements of sugar beet quality. Contents of potassium, sodium and alpha-amino nitrogen in sugar beet juice increased with the content of total nitrogen and K2O in the soil having a significant negative effect upon the content of polarizing sugar and exploitation at digestion.
