Distribution and control of bee louse (Braula coeca) was investigated in 60 honey bee colonies at one apiary near Belgrade (Yugoslavia). It was established that Mavrik TM (active substance fluvalinate) efficiently destroys bee louse in the hive unlike amitraz. Two treatments with Marvik smoke paper strips eliminated over 90% of bee louse in the hive. Presence of Braula coeca was established at investigated apiary in every bee colony and its number ranged from 4 to 44, x=14.9+-9.3. In one case outside the experimental groups at the same apiary in one bee colony there were 65 bee lice. Efficiency of Mavrik TM on Braula coeca was 55.8 percent after 30 minutes, 32.6 percent after 60 minutes and 11.6 percents after 90 minutes. One day and also four days later no dead bee was found.
