Influence of aerodynamic properties of the nasal cavity on the function of the olfactory sense in wild and domestic pigs

The object of the investigation of complete skulls and sagittal sections of wild and domestic pigs was comparison of the aerodynamic properties of the nasal passages and the nasal cavity as a whole. Therefore several clearly expressed morphological features cause different configuration of the nasal passages and nasal cavity as a whole. All this has a vital influence on the aerodynamic properties of the nasal cavity and these properties make the olfactory sense in the wild pig more efficient than in the domestic one.
