This is a study of the usefulness and reliability of measuring the electric resistance of vaginal mucosa using the Vaginal Conductivity Meter, as opposed to determining the progesterone level in the blood serum of cows. The obtained results indicate the following: The instrument is very dependable for the detection of oestrus in cows. Insemination is most efficient when the resistance level of vaginal mucosa falls between 36-42 ohms. The progesterone level in the blood serum is the lowest when the resistance level of vaginal mucosa is between 36-42 ohms, which suggests that the time of ovulation is near.
