Fertility of sows on private farms in 1989 [Slovenia, Yugoslavia]

In Yugoslavia, in 1989 were analyzed 822 farrowings, 122 cullings and 116 returns on fifteen private farms. Piglet production with gilts (age at farrowing 362,9 days, number of liveborn piglets per litter 8,65, corrected interval between selection and farrowing 169,4 days, and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 19,57 days) was 2,4% more expensive than in 1983. With old sows piglet production (interval between farrowings 162,9 days, corrected interval between farrowings 179,9 days, length of lactation 31,87 days, number of liveborn per litter 10,28 and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 17,51 days) was 3,67% more expensive than in 1983. In the year 1989 the percentage rate of lost piglets was 12,73% and number of weaned piglets 8,69
