The possibilities of the application of soild-state fermentation by Chaetomium cellulolyticum for the conversion of agricultural lignocellulosic wastes were investigated. Raw materials used were grape pomace (weathered, i.e. fermented under uncontrolled conditions) and corn stover. Fermentations were conducted in self-constructed forced-aeration bioreactor. In particular, the effects of the raw materials procedures (degree of grinding and hot alkali pretreatment) on the growth rate, protein yields and protein contents of the final products were investigated. Based on the experimental results, growth parameters of Chaetomium cellulolyticum on pretreated and nonpretreated pomaces and corn stovers were calculated.
