The influence of planting times and fertilizing on yield and NO3 content lettuce produced in plastic houses

Agroecological conditions have a significant influence on yield and quality of lettuce grown in plastic houses. Research showed that the different planting times, varieties as well as increasing quantity of nitrogen fertilizers have an influence on nitrate content and yield of lettuce. Nitrates proved to be harmful to human health. Higher yields were registered in autumn planting time as well as after application of larger doses on nitrogen fertilizers. Content of nitrate in lettuce leaves was increased with the increase of nitrogen fertilizers and with less favourable growing conditions (light and temperature).
