[Fertility of sows on the Slovens farms in 1986 [Yugoslavia]]

In the year 1986,44,416 farrowings, 60,511 matings and 10,892 culling were analyzed on eight Slovene pig farms. Piglet production with gilts (age at farrowing 352,7 days, number of liveborn piglets 8.62, corrected interval between selection and farrowing 174.8 days and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 20.17 days) was by 6.11% cheaper than in 1985. With old sows piglet production (interval between farrowings 154,25 days, corrected interval between farrowings 176.20 days, number of liveborn piglets 9.70 and number of feeding days per liveborn piglet 18.16 days) was by 2.26% cheaper than in the previous year. In 1986 the sows gave on the average 4.96 litters and 47.4 liveborn piglets in 848 days: this is how long their productive period lasted. The rate of the herd's annual renewal is 48.7%. Improved fertility in 1986 increased the income of the Slovene farms by 409,444, 454 dinars
