Pesticides and toxic metals in wheat and wheat products

The problem posed by pesticide and toxic metal residues in food commodities is significant in the world as well as in Yugoslavia. On the basis of the results obtained toxic metal and pesticide residues were estimated in wheat and wheat products (flour, bread, dough products). Residue amounts vary depending on the type of product, technology of production and storage conditions. Residues of one or more pesticides and toxic metal residues were detected in over 89 per cent of the tested wheat (75 samples) and wheat product samples (65 samples) in the previous years.
