Influence of directing and backcrossing Swedish Landrace and Large White on pig production

The paper studies the main reproductive features of sows on the basis of examining 657 litters of the first three successive farrowings in Swedish Landrace and F1 generation crosses (Swedish Landrace x Large White), as well as the effect of their crossbreeding upon the reproductive features. The following reproductive features were examined in each fertile sow: the number of farrowed piglets (live-born, still--born and total), the number of reared piglets, their birth weight and weaning weight, their weight gain in the weaning period, losses of piglets, inter-conceptual and service periods.
