[The economic position of hog production in "Belje" [ Yugoslavia] ]

The management of hog production was analyzed in "Belje", a company in Croatia (Yugoslavia) in the period 1979-1988. It was concluded that the reasons for non-profitable hog production lie in the fact that the selling price of the fattened hogs grows slower than the actual growth of the production costs. Increases in the prices of production material and cattle feed and increases of credit interest rates are not accompanied by price increases of live cattle. Better credit rates for production, importing components for the production of cattle feed and the improvement of the management conditions have been suggested.
