This paper discusses one of the most important aspects of agricultural land usage in Yugoslavia, which manifestes itself through the permanent presence of a large area of uncultivated arable land and fallow. A special review is given of an evaluation of this state from the aspect of various factors which cause this phenomenon, along with the measures which should be taken in order to alleviate this state.
