[Seasonal dynamics in potassium content and the efficiency of its use in plum nutrition]

The seasonal dynamics of potassium concentration in the leaf, whole fruit and its tissues was very similar in two of the studied plum cultivars, Pozegaca and Reine Claude d'Althan. The concentrations were similar to those already given by other authors concerning cv. Pozegaca i.e. the plum in general. In the period between anthesis and fruit ripening potassium was accumulated only in the pericarp. The accumulation was proportional to the increase of the dry fruit mass. Significant differences were recorded between cv. Pozegaca and cv. Reine Claude d'Althan in the quantity of accumulated potassium in the fruit, which was the result of the difference in the fruit size between these two cultivars. Potassium content of the seeds was the same during the entire growing season, while in the endocarp it declined during ripening. Both cultivars made use of potassium with the same amount of efficiency.
