Influence of population density of pine shoot-moth Rhyacionia buoliana Schiff. (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) upon the number of the attacked terminal shoots in pine plantations in Kosovo [Yugoslavia]
1987
Popovic, Dj. (Zavod za sumarstvo, Pec (Yugoslavia))
An observation of the development of Rhyacionia buoliana on three localities in Kossovo (Yugoslavia), on black pine plantations of different ages, showed the following: One caterpillar damages 2-3, mostly side buds before hibernation; Caterpillars which survive the winter attack only one bud that spring (that is why it is important to determine the total number of damaged buds in the fall); On the basis of the total number of attacked buds in the fall, it is possible to make a prognosis as to the intensity of the attack on terminal buds in the spring.
