The genetic progress of the milk production properties of Simmental, Brown and Black and White breeds in Slovenia, was estimated by classifying bulls into genetic groups and excluding the effects of the environment. For all the breeds, the best offsprings are attained with bulls with the hereditary bases of the American selection. The genetic basis of the Brown breed is higher in daughters which are 100% Brown Swiss (BS) by origin. Similarly, with the Black and White breed, the best results are those of 100% Holstein Friesian (HF) bulls and with the Simmental breed of the bulls containing a higher or lower rate of red holstein friesian (RHF) blood.
