In 1986 and 1987 the efficiency of Clofentezine (Apollo 50 EC) and Hexythiazox (Nissuron 10 EC and 10 WP) was investigated in field conditions for controlling vagrant forms of Panonychus ulmi on apples. Investigations were carried out in three locations (Kohanjec, Obrenovac and Cacak) and the population of P. ulmi was treated at an average of 12-30 vagrant forms of the insect per leaf. A somewhat lower initial toxicity of Clofentezine and Hexythiazox was registered compared to standard pesticides (Cyhexatine and Amitraz). If applied to a numerous population of P. ulmi, i.e. 12-30 vagrant forms per leaf. Clofentezine and Hexythiazox reduced the number of population of this species below one mite per leaf 14-19 days following application and below the economic threshold (5 vagrant forms per leaf) 3-7 days following treatment. Specific adulticides (Cyhexatine and Amitraz) are preferable in case of significantly numerous population of P. ulmi despite a prolonged persistent efficiency of Clofentezine and Hexythiazox.
