Production potential of goats and nutritive value of the feedstuffs fed to goats [Bangladesh]

A survey on the performance of goats at the village condition and nutritive value of feedstuffs were conducted. The growth (25g/d) and lactational performances of goats are low (0.21/d) compared to reproductive rate (2 kids/parturition). Goats fed on 19 varieties of forages and crop by-products. Rumen degradabilities were determined on all the feed stuffs. Higher readily soluble materials content (10%), potential degradability (40%) and degradation rate (2%) were found in Jackfruit, Morunga, Shewra, Banyan, korai leaves and in all the brans.
