Rural-urban differences in knowledge, attitude and practice of contraceptive methods [in Bangladesh]

Knowledge, attitude and practice of family planning measures in a rural and an urban area of Mymensingh district have been studied and analysed. It was revealed that the family planning programmes could not achieve uniform success in motivating the rural and the urban people; the rural people were found to have been lagging much behind in respect of knowledge, attitude and practice of contraceptive methods due to various reasons. Exposure to education of the respondents and their wives, newspaper reading and radio listening were found to be the major influencing factors.
