Effect of varieties and seed age on the fibre yield of jute [in Bangladesh]

The experiment was conducted to study the performances of three ages of seeds (fresh, 1 and 3 years) and three varieties of jute (D-154, CVL-1 and 0-4) on the fibre yield. Varietal variations were very slight in most of the plant characters including fibre and stick yield. The plant characters viz. flower initiation, number of branches and stick weight per plant varied significantly with the ages of seed.
