Exact field trials were conducted in 1985-1988 to study the effect of cytokynins R and B applied at the stage of flowering (main stage 60) on the amount and quality of harvested seed of sugar beet. The quality of produced sugar beet seed improved when seed plants were treated with R and B cytokinins. In evaluated trials, 1000-seed weight increased first of all what was reflected in higher balance of seed. 1000-seed weight increased compared with untreated control on an average for years under study by 7 to 12 per cent. This represents an increment by 1 to 1.5 gramme in an absolute weight. R and B cytokinins influenced positively the germination capacity of cultivated seed in majority of investigations.
