Economic relations between the nutrition of dairy cows and milk yield

This paper contains an analysis of the relations between the nutrition of dairy cows of the Black-Pied breed, figured as the feed cost, and the level of milk yield. The plane of nutrition was determined on the basis of 15 model lactation curves gradated by 250 l, within the total range of annual milk yield equalling 3,000-6,500 litres of milk. The amount of feed cost was calculated from the current production costs of different kinds of feeds. The relations between the annual level of milk yield and feed cost were represented by straight line regression equations. The development of the income in dependence on the annual milk yield was represented by a quadratic equation. The limit of cost effectiveness was calculated to correspond to the annual performance of 4,512 litres of milk.
