The effect of administration of a probiotic microbial blend culture of microorganism PROMA (Lactobacillus plantarum, Streptococcus faecium, Streptococcus lactis, Propionibacterium freundereuchii) was studied in 7-9-day-old calves. The individual consumption of used feeds and the weight gains were observed. The consumption of the separate sorts of administered feeds was insignificantly lower in the test group than in the control one. A positive effect on the live weight gains was obtained in each case during the period from 61 to 90 days of age in calves. The live weight gains in calves increased, on an average, by 7.8-12.5 per cent for a group, for the whole period of administering the preparation PROMA. After elimination of the preparation from the feed ration, the live weight gains significantly increased in the test groups (in the period form 7 to 180 days of age the total increase was 11.3-21.1 per cent).
