The feeding of extracted rapeseed as 5 per cent, 10 per cent and 15 per cent proportions in feed mixtures with isoprotein contents was investigated in three experiments with Hybro broiler chicks. The liveweight of male and female chicks did not change significantly. The same applies to feed conversion and net protein utilization. The conversion of metabolizable energy was decreasing parallelly with the increasing proportion of rapeseed. The feeding of rapeseed did not have any greater effects on chick mortality, dressing percentage and meat proportion (with the exception of the 10 per cent rapeseed proportion in experiment no. 2). Neither were the sensory characteristcs of meat influenced. The feeding of rapeseed increased considerably the thyroid gland weight in chicks; heat treatment of rapeseed helped to decrease this difference. In general it can be stated that rapeseed can be fed to the 15 per cent proportion in feed mixtures if the isoprotein content is maintained; then there are no negative effects on the efficiency of broiler chicks.
