Pulping characteristics of two Ghanaian hardwood species

Two indigenous Ghanaian hardwood species, Morus mesozygia and Sterculia rhinopetala, were investigated for pulping characteristics for paper making. Both have high lignin and holocellulose content, with Morus fibres thin-walled but Sterculia thick-walled. Sulphate pulping of Morus results in production of acceptable strength of pulp but that for Sterculia is of inferior quality
