According to a computerized histogram checked with the Bartlet test, in the final phase of potato breeding a test sample consisting of 5 tubers per treatment is sufficient for the examinations, as determined previously. To improve reliability the tuber number can be increased to 10, but more than this is quite unnecessary. If no leaf area measuring equipment is available, reliable results can be obtained also by means of weight measurements.
