Efficiency of albendazol preparations against internal parasites of cattle and sheep
1990
Merenyi, L.
In a large sheep flock the effect of albendazol-containing Vermitan preparations of the CHINOIN on internal parasites was studied. The medicine mixed in feed /20 o/o granulate/ or in the form of freshly prepared aqueous suspension was just as effective as the original factory suspension /2.5 o/o/. At a rate of 3.5 mg/kg body weight it has also been used against trichostrongylides, Dictyocaulus and Moniezia. At a rate of 7.5 mg/kg it greatly lessens the discharge of protostrongylide larvae and Fasciola eggs. A 7-day treatment is equally effective as is a single dose. After three treatments with Vermitan during a year, wool production of more than 40 000 sheep increased by 300 g/animal on an average. In animals vaccinated against enzootic abortion of ewes /EAE/ the medicine did not influence the immunoreaction.
