In implementing Indonesia's long-term plan to develop, exploit and damage its rich coastal resources on a sustainable basis, the government needs skilled manpower. Under its five-year development plan, the government has assigned Diponegoro University (UNDIP) the responsibility to produce graduate-level professionals with appropriate management expertise who will coordinate with other institutions involved in coastal area ecodevelopment. The proposed education and training program on coastal area management (CAM) at UNDIP is discussed in this paper.
