Active solar dryer for drying spray painting and screen printing plastic articles

A unique application of an active solar dryer for drying spray printing and screen printing of plastic articles is outlined with a brief explanation of the process and sample results. The active solar system comprises of high efficiency solar collectors capable of attaining 77.0 deg C to provide the spray painting drying chamber in the temperature range of 45 deg C - 60 deg C depending on the solar radiation intensity. A similar system was fabricated and installed for deep-bed drying of rice-grain (padi) up to 15 tons per batch drying from moisture content of 24% to 25% within the normal period. The applicability to other agricultural crops is mentioned. An attractive pay-back period is indicated based on the direct cost saving of fuel.
