Maize silage and hay or lucerne haylage in dairy cow feeding

An investigation on lactating cows offered a diet containing maize silage and 6 kg of meadow hay (I), 3 kg of meadow hay and 12 kg of lucerne haylage (II) or 24 kg of lucerne haylage (III) was carried out. The highest milk performance in cows of III group and that lowest in I group was stated. A significant increase of blood beta carotene content in cows given lucerne haylage instead of hay was observed
