Influence of swine slurry applied to heavy soil on yield of crops

A static field experiment was conducted to study the effect of swine slurry applied to a black earth developed from clay on yield and chemical composition of farm crops. The results of the third rotation are discussed. Considerable yield increases were obtained to 38 percent for semi-sugar beet roots and 162 percent for wheat straw. An average yield increase was 80 percent as expressed in cereal units. The highest yields were obtained at the range slurry doses containing 134 to 385 kg N/ha. Combinations of swine slurry with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers applied before planting and with nitrogen given as top dressing resulted in very good effects. Application of swine slurry to the soil increased the content of nitrogen and phosphorus of the crops and the total amount of crude protein
