Cultivation of maize for grain corn in crop rotation on light soils

Tests were done during the years 1980-82 on light soil (light loamy sand) of a good rye complex after potatoes. The cultivation of grain corn was tested in 3 years rotation using 2 plant densities 6 and 8 plant/sq. m and with the use of N in few plant development stages. The highest quantity (6.98 t/ha) was obtained by using 150 kg/ha in the phase of 4-5 leaves and by using a 75 kg/ha dose before sowing and 75 kg/ha in the stage of tassel appearance (6.83 t/ha) no significant differences. The density of 8 plants /sq. m proved to be more effective because the obtained yield was 6.97 t/ha and with lower density was 6.15 t/ha.
