[Nitrogen fertilization of Hessian fly-resistant 'Saada' in a shallow soil of semi-arid Morocco]

The results of studying the effects of time and rate of N application on straw and grain yield of Saada wheat are reported. It is concluded that approximately 40 kg N/ha is adequate for wheat on shallow soil. Yields probably will increase with higher N rates when cereals are grown on deeper soils. A well managed legume may add sufficient N to the following cereal crop as to make N fertilization unnecessary
