Effect of plant spacing on leaf nutrients content, stem carbohydrate content, growth and yield of pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.)
1988
Konchit Budagosa
Length of D-leaves increased while the width decreased where the plant density is high. Average fruit weight and diameter were significantly different. The spacing at 28 cms. was the best, with fruit weight and diameter more than the other spacings. The treatments that had spacing less than 28 cms. yielded smaller fruit. Yield increased while plant density increased. Plant spacing had no effect on leaf nutrient and stem carbohydrate content, number of leaves per plant, total fresh weight of plant, stump weight, D-leaves weight, crown weight, length of fruit, total soluble solids and total titratable acids in fruit.
