Opinions of elementary teachers in the municipality area of Changwat Prachuap Khiri Khan [Thailand] towards agricultural subjects

Most of the elementary teachers were female. Their average age was 33.76 years. The mean of working experience was 9.83 years. Most of them held a Bachelor's degree with general education major. They resided in the municipal area, but parents used to farm. They experienced in growing ornamental plants at their home. For the preference, interest, importance, appreciation, and the intention towards careers and agricultural subject, most teachers indicated at the "less" level, inspite of their acceptance on agricultural subject for national economic development at the "much" level. For the teaching-learning of agriculture, they were quite intentive, but the practical learning situations both at home and school were suitable at the "less" level including the co-opporation toward the teaching-learning activities of teachers too. Teacher's recommendations toward the teaching-learning process of agricultural subjects were that; 1) schools should support enough land, seeds, fertilizers, tools and instruments in the teaching-learning activity; 2) students should have completed cycle of practice for farm experience including close evaluation of teachers; 3) schools should have qualified teachers with a bachelor's degree in agriculture; and 4) the training program for teachers should be carried out by local supervisory unit in order to increase thin knowledge and understanding as well as the appreciation of agricultural subject.
