Evaluation of local swamp rice germplasm was carried out. Characters considered were maturity period, tillering ability, plant height, resistance to drought, lodging, rice blast, brown spot, percentage bird damage and yielding ability. Long grain and K23 yielded high; K264 and long grain had a high tendency to lodge, K23 and Kaiso mature early, K23 tillered most, Birds' damage and diseases were not a problem that season.
